Why are we taking $ from strangers??

Some of you may be wondering why we've started asking for sponsorship from various sources.

Here's the skinny:
-The more "free" money we get (for tweeting about/advertising a logo for an organization or company) the more fun stuff we get to do in Vegas for FREE.

-We are only approaching companies/organization that relate to fanfiction whether it be a writing tool or resource, or a database/library, or a sponsorship from an attendee. You won't find a Gatorade logo on the back of your TFMU t-shirt. I can't think of one reason why that would be fic-related. Is there some E/B love story out there that involves electrolyte-enhanced fruit beverages?? Probably. But I've never heard of one.

Regardless of who it is that sponsors us, it in no way represents our individual opinions or beliefs.

Believe me, we all have a lot of opinions...but what our sponsors do ain't one of em. (Unless they're murdering people. That's wrong.)

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or flattering compliments, please...please let us know.

Welcome, To Our Most Recent Sponsor, SCRIVENER!

Some of you may already use Scrivener to write but if you haven't seen what this thing can do, you have to go check it out. Right now. Go. I'll wait for you...

See? I told you.

Here's the skinny:

Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft. For a full overview of Scrivenerʼs main features, please check out the main Scrivener web page.

For a fanfiction writer, this program kicks ass. Even for a fanfiction reader, it kicks ass because it allows the writer to create character profiles, story boards, make outlines, keep track of notes and ideas - all of which make for an amazingly well-written piece of fiction.

We are so excited that Scrivener has become a part of the TwiFic Meet Up, we hope you stop by their website at Literature & Latte and check out their amazing product. A 30-day free trial is available for all new users. (Mac & Windows compatible)

All I Want for Christmas is a Trip to Las Vegas...

It's the season of giving! There's wrapping presents and making cookies for the little ones. Maybe you celebrate Hanukkah and you are getting ready to spin the dreidle and eat some kugel or perhaps you celebrated Festivus for the 'rest of us'. Whatever your holiday... chrisma-hanuka-kwanzaa-dwaili... perhaps you should ask for something just for you this holiday season.

That's right. When it comes to the holidays, our focus is always on giving to other people. Well isn't about time you told them what you really want? A trip to the TwiFic Meet Up at the uber-fabulous Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas?

No seriously...considering all we do for our husbands, partners, parents or children, don't we deserve one weekend to live it up in Sin City? Hell yes, we do!

So, go sweet talk that someone special and then sign up here, for what will no doubt be one of the most memorable events in the fandom! Hotel rooms are booking up fast! Don't miss out!

Whether you are signed up to attend or not, we would really love some feedback from you regarding the event. Consider it your Christmas gift to us and it will only take a few minutes, so fill out our Meetup Survey here!

Happy Holidays!

Hotel Reservation UPDATE

There have been some changes in the past 6 days since reservations opened up for the Twific Meet Up.

There have been 30 hotel reservations resulting in 25 rooms being reserved for Thursday night, 30 rooms for both Friday and Saturday nights and 13 rooms reserved for Sunday night (and a few for Wednesday and Monday nights that we do not have a group rate for).

We only have a few rooms left for Thursday and Sunday nights at the current rate of $55/night. Once those are gone the rate will increase to $67 for Thursday night (15 rooms) and $70 for Sunday night (5 more).

If/when we have to increase the rooms for Friday and Saturday nights it will be a pretty big increase. Friday night will be $180/night and Saturday night will be $190/night.

Bottom line? BOOK ASAP. HERE.

If you want to make your hotel reservations over the phone call the Monte Carlo: 888-529-4828 or 702-730-7000 and use the code: XTWIFIC

Also, PLEASE start arranging your roommates. That will help us have enough rooms for everyone at a reasonable cost. If you need help getting a roommate or would like us to assign you, just let us know. You can also post a "wanted ad" HERE.

We have finally completed our ZAZZLE STORE. YAY! Special thanks go to InTheSubtext and MsRason for helping us with the designs. We couldn't have done this without them. Our design skills are severely lacking. LOL If you'd like to help with future designs let us know. All proceeds from our Zazzle store will go towards the Twific Meet Up and anything extra will be donated to Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Yesterday was the last day to pay $40 for your meet up fees. From today until the deadline, March 1st, the fees will be $55.

We are looking for things we can give away as door/game prizes or giveaways. If you have something you'd like to donate please let us know. So far we have some Brazilian goodies from @Themys_, Creative Memories photo album & kit from @StoriesForevy and possibly some signed Twilight memorabilia and other things.

Some people have asked for a list of those who have paid their meet up fees so they can get a better idea of who is REALLY planning to attend. Here is what I have as of right now.

Monte Carlo hotel reservations

We have FINALLY signed the contract for: 20 rooms for Thursday night ($55/night), 50 rooms for Friday and Saturday nights ($115/night) and 15 rooms for Sunday night ($55/night).

Are you ready to make your hotel reservations? Want to make sure you get the bed size and/or smoking preference that you want? Reservations are now open online HERE or over the phone, 888-529-4828 or 702-730-7000, using the code: XTFMU12.

Some things you should be aware of:

*When making your reservations you will be required to pay a deposit of the first night's rate ($55 if you're arriving Thursday or $115 if you're arriving Friday) plus tax (12%).

*The hotel will not help you and your roommate split the cost of the room, you and your roommate must take care of that yourselves.

*Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am.

*You must cancel your hotel room 48 hours prior to check-in to get a full refund.

So what are you waiting for? Go make your reservations! And just for our records, please shoot us an email, tweet us or leave a comment here when you make your reservations and for which nights so we know how many rooms we have left.

And the TFMU hotel is...

It was a VERY close race between Caesars Palace and Monte Carlo, but with about 10 more votes the Monte Carlo hotel won.

We hope you will join us June 8-10, 2012 at the Monte Carlo casino in Las Vegas, NV. If you haven't signed up to attend, do so HERE.

We are currently voting on the top 2 hotel choices from the last vote... Caesars Palace and Monte Carlo. More info and pricing on these two hotels can be found HERE. Voting closes TONIGHT at 7 PM EST. Make sure you vote. Results from this vote will be our official TFMU hotel.

Where would you like to stay?

After much research and many hours of hard work, our lovely @NoVerbalFilter (Carrie) has presented us with great hotel options! UPDATED 9/28

  • $115.00 per night ($55.00 on Thursday & Sunday if anyone extends their stay) / Strip View room = $135.00 / Monaco Suite = $165.00 per night. All room prices + Resort fee $15.00 per day*
  • Room tax 12% per day
  • 3rd & 4th person in a room up the rate by $30.00/person. Max 4 guests in a room

  • $180.00 per night + Resort fee* (unlisted)
  • Room tax 12% per day
  • 3rd & 4th person in a room up the rate by $30.00/person. Max 4 guests in a room

Resort fee includes guestroom internet, fitness center access, daily newspaper, local & toll free calls, and fax and copy and boarding passes.)

Our form guru @aleighy (Amber), has created a survey to get your vote for your preferred option. The majority winner will become the OFFICIAL TWIFIC MEETUP 2012 HOTEL! WAHOO! Who's excited? I know I am!

Now because these prices are based on a booking of at least 25 rooms (it's possible we could get a better rate with more rooms) we ask that everyone stay at the same place. Plus if you stay somewhere else you'll probably miss out on 2am hotel room parties where everything gets bat shit crazy. KWIM?! I THINK YOU DO.

Go HERE and tell us where you'd like to stay!

Any questions? Drop us a line!
