TFMU 2013: Inside the Author's Studio

We're excited to announce a new feature at the TwiFic Meet Up in 2013 -- Inside the Author's Studio!

Our fandom's very own sweetheart, Kassiah of The Fictionators will be hosting/moderating, and we'll be announcing our author lineup very soon.

We can't wait to see you in Chicago! You have 10 days left to sign up for the payment plan option! Don't forget the first hike in fees is January 15, 2013, so be sure to sign up soon and secure your spot.

Right now we have 211 people signed up to attend and 21 "official" (paid) attendees. We are so excited to have more than doubled our numbers since our first meetup in Vegas this past summer. This is going to be the party of the year! Make sure you spread the word to all your (fanfic) friends (writers AND readers!) and encourage everyone to attend!

Happy Holidays!

Chicago From A First-Timer's Perspective

If you haven't visited the wonderous editorial magic that is Thought Catalog - you totally should. I guess this is an opinion post but I'm like 99% positive that I'm right about this. ;)

I came across this particular entry the other day and thought "PERFECTO!"

For our TFMU 2013 attendees who will be visiting Chicago for the first time ever, this is a great out-of-towner's POV. And she's a New Yorker to boot! Read below!

"A little over a year ago, my best friend moved to Chicago. I was still getting over the whole ‘scared to fly’ thing, as well as the ‘too broke to buy plane tickets’ thing, so it took me awhile to visit. I was stoked when I finally made my way there last week—it’s the 3rd most populous city in America, so one can assume that there are some worthwhile sites to be seen. I wanted to love it. And I did! (Please take a moment to catch your breath while someone from New York admits to loving another city because, oh my god, the world revolves around us and we can’t appreciate any other city, ever. I’ll wait.) Here’s a tiny handful of what makes Chicago awesome (from my perspective):
No pigeons: While there may be pigeons of the Sporty Thievz variety, I didn’t see one bewinged rat during my entire stay. Chicago, whose D did you S? Point me in their direction. Share with me your secrets.
Sweet shopping: Chicago is full of both chains and boutiques, the inventory of which is suspiciously underpriced. In New York, I often find myself playing Tag. By that, I mean I see something I like, peep the price tag, then run away. In Chicago, I looked at a tag and was like, “I’ll take two, please wrap them so that I can present myself with a gift-like reward for being awesome at shopping.” One storeowner gave me a ring for free because “it’s the last one;” doesn’t get cheaper than that.
It’s small(er): Not small in the sense that you’ll run out of things to do, but small enough that you won’t lose friends and potential love interests because they live too goddamn far away. I can’t tell you how many friendships have been lost to the affordable housing in the Upper, Upper East Side. (Too many.)
Unassuming panhandlers: I’ve seen my fair share of panhandlers, but some of the Chicagoan panhandlers I encountered seemed to have graduated from the Oliver Twist School of Begging, constructing long and sorrowful narratives about their three-year-old son or their dead parents or both. They often look like they should be standing shirtless in front of an Abercrombie and Fitch rather than at the end of an off-ramp.
It’s clean: When my hostess and her boyfriend came to stay with me in Brooklyn, he (who had never been to New York, I think) was kind of shocked and appalled by all of the grime. I was confused by his reaction until I saw what he was comparing my block to—pristine sidewalks where the trash never peeks out of the bin, where there isn’t plastic-wrap from a bodega honey bun floating through the air, where the streets don’t resemble an ashtray – I GET IT. WE’RE DIRTY. Anyway, Chicago happens to have a few of those inexplicable tar stains on the sidewalk, which helped me feel at home.
Bloody Marys: Perhaps the proximity to Wisconsin helped stir this inspired recipe, but Bloody Marys in Chicago have Monterey Jack cheese in them. (For those of you who are curious, it’s cubed.) Also, I’m 98% certain you can drink from concealed containers on the street so long as you don’t act a fool. Chicago residents, confirm or deny.
Architecture: Aside from an impressive skyline, the residential architecture is equal parts aesthetic and functional (a result of the Great Chicago Fire). In New York, I’ve stumbled on beautiful blocks that are off the beaten path. They’re well maintained and expose you to tangible evidence of the city’s history. Almost every residential block in Chicago made me feel this way.
Jazz: The jazz scene in Chicago has roots and manages to bring several generations and races to the same clubs with the purpose of bonding over some seriously gifted talent. Coming from a city where your options are typically dive bar, sports bar, bro bar, club, overpriced music venue, or travelling an hour uptown to see something authentic; having an intimate, cheap music experience is nothing to knock.
There’s a lot more to enjoy about Chicago. The food is great, the public transportation is plentiful (and above ground), and I saw a yuppie woman unironically pushing her dog around in a stroller—an expensive one, at that. I got to see the Cubs win (apparently that doesn’t happen often). And of course, I got to see my best friend who, despite being a fellow East Coaster, is living a pretty sweet life there. I don’t see myself living there (I’m not pleasant enough), but I look forward to visiting again and again. Thanks for having me! (Is that how you act polite? Am I doing it right?)" -

To Gisela, With Love From Your Friends

It's not often that you can say your family is made up of hundreds of people from all over the world and from all walks of life. However, if you're a member of the ever-growing, Twilight Fandom, you can.

To others our group sounds hokey, silly, and sometimes fanatical. There are all types that make up a family, right? Some of those stereotypes may be true but the one thing that sets us a part from all others is the love and support we have for each other.

I've never seen so many people jump to the rescue of a stranger. No matter how small or seemingly unimportant the problem may be. Someone stole your fanfic and posted it on their website, claiming to have written it?! Cue the hordes of angry pitch-fork yielding Twitterers who will have that nonsense taken down in a matter of hours. You're stranded on the side of the road and your usual
house full of people seem to have all disappeared? TWEET YOUR FANDOM FRIEND. THEY WILL RESCUE YOU. Are you writing a book? WE WILL BUY IT.

Even when the hardest of times hit...your home is destroyed in a tornado or some other crazy natural disaster. We will be there for you. We'll send you smutty fics to read on your phone to pass the time while sitting at the Red Cross. You name it. We can do it.

On this day, the worst has happened. We've lost one of our own (Gisela aka @mad4hugh pictured in the red jacket) and to a senseless, random accident. We may not have all known you, Gisela, but we will all miss you. We hope the little gifts we're all gathering will allow your family and other loved ones to concentrate on celebrating you and not worry about expenses and other silly things that in the end, mean nothing.

It's what we can do. So we will do it.

With Love, All of your friends.

Let's Do It Again! #TWSS

Seriously. Who is still recovering?? *raises hand* Apparently we did Vegas up right ya'll! (I was around wayyy too many Southerners last weekend). ;-)

CHICAGO (WOOT! WOOT! I LIVE HERE! Don't let that sway you.....or do.)

Now that you've narrowed down your choices GO VOTE for your favorite! Remember, only 1 vote per person and please choose the time period that you think will best suit you. We know, we know...not many of us have a frigging clue where we'll be in a year but give it your best guess.

Quick note: The lovely and talented, @MsKathy has joined the TFMU Team! Please give her a round of applause. *waits* *waits* *waits* *waits* Okay, okay, we get it. You like her! Stop clapping.

Attendee Spotlight - @joicejabril

Last, but certainly not least, say hello to joicejabril!

Hey Ladies.... maybe I would be the last one to send this out (as I think I was the last one to confirm attendance...) but maybe it's better late than, you know... Ok, here goes.

1. What was the 1st Twilight FanFiction that you read? Did it only entice you to read more? Why or why not?

- The way that I discovered TwiFF was through a fic called 'The Office'. Who doesn't know beautiful bastard by now? Right? That was late 2009... I started reading a few fics, but got sidetracked for waiting for updates (that never came) and fics that eventually got abandoned... So, I took a hiatus from reading and instead did a lot of traveling for the next couple of years.  Late last year, after watching BD Part 1, I got an email from a friend telling me to read Emancipation Proclamation... needless to say, I was hooked the second time time around, and haven't stopped since.

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Twific Meet Up?

- I am most looking forward to meeting fellow Twific lovers and authors alike. I don't know anybody from the fandom that much, but I look forward to meeting some fellow Vegas readers, the beta extraordinaire Lisa Hollett & the author of 'maybe i'm falling for you' Coldplaywhore. I want a picture and an autograph ;)

3. Are you a reader or a writer, or both?
-If you're a writer, what genre(s) do you mainly write?
-If you're a reader, what genre(s) do you mainly read?

- I am mainly a reader... but dream of writing one someday (maybe I started writing one...  in my head).  I mostly enjoy humor, romance & mobward type fics. Not a fan of angsty fics... EP being the exception.

4. Have you ever been to Vegas before? If yes, tell us what you loved/hated most about it. If you haven't been, what are you most excited to see - or on the opposite side of the spectrum - what are you most worried about when visiting Vegas? (I'm worried about excessive sweating, tbh.)

- I live here for the last 7 years. So, if you guys need a tourguide.... hey, let me know.

5. Have any pets? Kids? If so, tell us how many and their breeds (the dogs, people, the dogs). We love animals! (Well, I do.) (And kids, too!)

- I have a cat named Rusty and a 7 year old son... who knows Edward by heart.

6. What did you think of The Hunger Games movie? WHAT?! WE ALL SAW IT DIDN'T WE?! (Just kidding. Psst...go ahead and answer it if you want to, I won't care.)

- Eh, haven't seen it. Sorry.

Bonus Question:
If you could be one FicBella, FicEdward, FicEmmett, FicJasper or FicAlice (you get the picture-pick any character) for one day - which one would it be? (I would totes be FicEdward in @TruceOver's A Tale of Two Cities)

- For one day? I wanna be KStew.... and that's not the fictional character. :)

I look forward to the event and hope to meet some awesome people this weekend.  Cheers!

GOOD ANSWER! ;-D Thanks so much for sharing! We'll see you VERY SOON.

Attendee Spotlight - @mrsrandygiles

HEY, HEY, HEY! Let's meet incomple.

:) I'm Lauren. I go by mrsrandygiles on twitter, but I'm known as incomple on ADF,, and Twilighted.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I actually saw the movie first. I picked up Twilight after seeing the film way back in.. 2008 was it? I actually went to see it with my boyfriend at the time, neither of us having any idea what it was, and ended up enjoying it thoroughly. It was so campy and great, right? Er, even if it was unintentional. I remember actually LOLing through most of the scenes ("you better hold on tight, spider monkey") and having the 13-15 year old girls in front of me furiously turning in their seats to give me dirty looks. I didn't pick up the book until a couple of weeks later, when my best friend was all "OOOMMMGGGGG you HAVE to read them!" and the rest is history. Needless to say, I read all 3 in less than a week's time and was totally hooked.

I'd read some Harry Potter fic back in the day but had never really gotten into it, so I didn't even *think* about twific probably for a good 6 months. Honestly, I don't even remember how I discovered it, but tells me my first favorited story was "The Dominant" by tara sue me, added in April 2009. :D I've kind of fallen off the ff wagon in the past 6 months, as I am a full-time graduate student with a full time job here in Vegas (yep, I live here). I just haven't had a lot of time lately, unfortunately, to read fic. I *do* still harbor dreams of one day actually writing (and finishing) one of my own. I've started a couple, and I even had betas and everything (!!!), but I only got about 3 chapters in and neither were ever posted. I used to be quite active on ADF, but I haven't actually commented on a post in 20 years probably. Some of my favorite fics are probably considered classics by now: With Teeth (talulablue), Sleepers, Awake (Feisty Y. Beden), We Come to Life Beneath the Stars (lillybellis), Awake in the Infinite Cold (quothme), and of course Volition (Rochelle Allison), to name just a few.

Anyhow, I'm *so* excited to meet everyone! Please say hi!!! I'll be the one with the giant camera (photography student).

P.S. Was anyone at the meet up at Comic Con last year? I was totally there!! I'd love to see some familiar faces."

So excited to meet you. I'll be the one hiding from the camera. ;)

So, I'm enroute to Vegas (Amber) and Amanda is already there. IT'S TIME TO PARTY!

Attendee Spotlight - @Georgiaedwardlover

I've got Georgiaedwardlover on my mind! *sings* Geooorrggiiaaaa!

Ilovealion introduced me to fan fiction. I remember it so vividly... I was driving home from Atlanta and she told me over the phone about this crazy story she was reading. I didn't understand why people would manipulate book characters, but she was so mesmerized by the story that I decided to try it. That story was "Wide Awake." Enough said... I was addicted.

Since then, I can't tell you how many stories I've read--some very good, others not so good and some downright disturbing.

After reading quite a few stories, I decided I could do this, too. I pitched a story idea to ilovealion. She liked it and wanted in. Since then, we've been writing "Pure Revelations" as Georgialion. It's been one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done. We both feel so passionately about our characters that it gets us in trouble sometimes. You should see some of our texts and emails.

Cared somehow found ilovealion and has been our one person public relations team. She has rec'd our story everywhere and is responsible for many of the readers who've found us.

I've never been to Las Vegas. It's not really someplace I would choose to go on my own... But I'm looking forward to a very interesting trip.

I have two children, a husband, two cats (one of whom is named Charlie) and a more than full-time job.
There isn't a Bella I'd like to be all the time. There are bits and pieces of Bella from lots of different stories that I'd like to be some of the time.

I don't know about you guys, but I think it's high time we present Miss AG with a lifetime achievement award for introducing 95% of the fandom to the smutfest that is TwiFic. We should have a moment of silence in her honor at the meet up. JS.

Super excited to meet you Georgia! Thanks for sharing!

Attendee Spotlight - EdwardsVampireGirl

Say HEY to EdwardsVampireGirl!

Hello Everyone!

I guess I should start with saying my real name is Melissa.  I'm EdwardsVampireGirl on ff, Facebook, Twilighted and TWCS.  I don't do Twitter because I scarcely have time for the other four.  Sadly, I have no pic to share because I take all the pics - besides I hate having my pic taken any way. :D

I became addicted to Twilight in October, 2009.   My friend's teenage daughter talked about it constantly so I decided to rent the movie to see what the hype was about. Yeah, figured out the hype real fast!  I watched the movie 2 or 3 times that day then went out and bought all four books.  I had finished them the first time within a week.  I read the books 3 or 4 more times before I stumbled upon fanfiction.  I was surfing through sites looking for info on the NM release and read a discussion about Wide Awake.  I hunted it down, read a bit, decided it wasn't for me and clicked on the pretty little X to close it out then read the books again.  A few weeks later, I decided to give WA a try again because I just felt I needed more - yet something different and became hooked.  I started looking for others, found them and the rest is history as they say.  I actually have found many many stories that I like better than the books.  I've tried all kinds of stories and have found that I pretty much stick to BxE stories. Definitely no Jacob/Bella.  My favorite Jakes are actual dogs or gay (my absolute fav being a drag queen who calls himself Jatina). For the last little while I have avoided really angsty stories because I need the escape from the stresses of RL.

I'm horribly late with this because RL is making me insane right now.  I also didn't realize until yesterday that the Meet Up was actually this weekend instead of next week.  Thank you Jenny0719 for making a comment in your A/N for DM.  Time sneaks right by you when you are incredibly swamped as I'm sure you all know!  Fortunately, I live in Vegas so being off a weekend is no big deal.  Unfortunately, living in Vegas means RL has a sneaky way of biting you in the ass and could cut into my Meet Up time since I can't say, well I'm out of town this weekend!

Let's see - what else. *taps finger on chin*  I have a hubs who is supportive of my ff addiction especially since he is the lucky recipient of some lemony goodness of his own when an update leaves me a hot mess. ;)  I have a pre-teen daughter who has seen all the movies with me and still is secretly all about Jake and his abs but will tell me she is Team Edward because I have told her she can't go to the movies with me unless she is Team Edward.  Now that she is reading the books, she rants with me about how different the movies are from the book for no apparent good reason and is seeing the true light about being Team Edward. (No offense to those of you who are Team Jacob.)  I'm extremely shy, especially when it comes to meeting new people - at least until I get to know someone a little but hopefully I can overcome that this weekend as I'm really looking forward to meeting up with fellow fanfic addicts!

We will be seeing you so soon!!!

Can't wait to see everyone in Vegas... in just a day or two!

Attendee Spotlight - @chicalicious11

Welcome to the Spotlight, chicalicious!

Hi y’all! My name is Cristina (chicalicious on FF and chicalicious11 on Twitter) and I have been a Twific addict for almost 3 years. I first read Twilight about two months after the movie came out. I actually remember before the movie was out, being on MySpace seeing all sorts of “Team Edward” and “Team Jacob” blinkies and icons and thinking ‘wth is all this nonsense?’ and having no clue what a sparkly vampire is or knowing where in the heck is Forks. Obviously I never would have imagined being so engrossed with the Saga and its plot and characters as I am now.

I was first introduced to Twilight fanfiction by a former co-worker, who could clearly see my obsession, she sent me a link for Wide Awake by angstgoddess003 and from then on I was completely lost to the world of Twifics. I am an avid reader and faithful reviewer. I will read anything except slash. I mostly enjoy angst, humor, and of course romance. I don’t typically like reading anything except E&B stories, but I have taken my chances on a few with different pairings and I’ve only been disappointed once, so I am always willing to give a story a chance and keep an open mind. I do hope that I might get some inspiration or guidance for writing my own story at the Meet Up.

I am most looking forward to meeting all the incredible ladies that create the amazing stories that I read everyday. I have never been to Las Vegas before, so I am obviously excited about being there and taking in as much as I can. I seriously do not want to waste a moment sleeping because that’s what the rest of my summer is for, right?

I don’t have any pets or kids. I am a teacher, so I do have the opportunity to spend time with kiddos everyday. I love my students like they are my own and I know I will miss them this summer. I actually haven’t read or seen The Hunger Games series. It’s on my to-do list for the summer though! I’m not an outdoorsy person at all. Reading and “reality” TV shows are pretty much my main addictions. While I don’t keep my fanfiction addiction a secret, no one I know really understands what it is or why it keeps me so preoccupied, so I’m also looking forward to being with people that have read the same stories and the discussions we might have together.

See you in Vegas!

Woohooo! Another Vegas Virgin! I think all of us who've never been have a free pass to get SUPA DUPA CRAZY. Whatdya say? Y/FY?

Attendee Spotlight - @delitefuld13

Hey ya'll, say heyyyy to delitefuld13!

Hi all.  I'm Dominique (D131313/@delitefuld13).  I am sitting as a Cosi writing my attendee spotlight because I just moved from the west coast to the east coast a week ago and don't have Internet.  And despite the lovely twitter harassment I got to write this I just was too stressed out, in denial, depressed about leaving sunny Southern California  to do this earlier.  Which actually brings me how I got into Twilight. I did the same move in reverse (east to west) one week before the movie Twilight came out.  I had no interest in seeing the movie, but bought the book out of curiosity. I stopped reading it after the first chapter because I thought it was really poorly written. Fast forward a couple months to February 2009 and I am in the worse pain I have ever been in my life (thanks to a tumor growing in my spine like a little alien), taking Vicoden like candy, and home from work when something in me said let me give this Twilight book a chance. I read all the books in 3 days and I finally got myself to the last theatre in town showing the movie. I was not happy with some(*cough Rob*) of the actors at all, but yeah, I liked the movie and like the Vicoden I was taking every 4 hours, I needed more.

I got into Twilight fanfiction within 10 days of reading all the books and seeing the movie via the IMDB New Moon message board where some people were going on and on about Wide Awake. I don't know if I would have gotten into fanfiction if I would have read any other fic first.  I was hooked. Within a couple of months I no longer needed the Vicoden (thanks to advances in modern medicine not fanfiction) but I still had a three fic a day habit.

I remember going to the first Twilight fanfiction panel at SDCC in 2009. I never considered getting in line for the New Moon Panel that year I just wanted to go to the fanfiction panel. I went  fan girl crazy in my head over Angstgoddess.   I think there were maybe only 15 people watching the room that day and I remember thinking how cool it was to be around other people who are into this stuff.  My fic habit lasted for a good two and a half years in which I met some awesome people who I did crazy fun things with and are the reasons I am going to TFMU.

Now I am only an occasional reader, like when stories that I have been in progress since 2009 spontaneously update (I'm still dreaming of that Hydraulic 5 ending).  I do have 2 one shots that aren't much of anything but random thoughts.

I love Vegas this will be my third trip this year.  I am excited for the lemon blueberry cupcakes at the Cupecakery in Monte Carlo and tall pretty men (to many short trolly men in my new town).  I was told by another attendee that I do Vegas like people in the movies do Vegas.  This is true, I can only give further details in person while in Vegas.   You might even see me partying in the dress my lovely mother made me that is a replica of Alice's dress she wore to the wedding.

*My attached picture is of me in white sunglasses looking at Rob and making my eew he's just not cute face.

I already love you. You are a funny lady. However, good luck to you my dear. I think you're distaste for The Pretty might get you beaten up in the back alley of the Monte Carlo. (Does Vegas have back alleys? I'm from Chicago and that's where take people to beat them up.) I'll try to protect you as much as I can, but I make no promises. ;-)

Attendee Spotlight - @mad4hugh & @michiamoelle

Guys. Guys. Listen. THERE ARE TWO SPOTLIGHTS TODAY: mad4hugh & michiamoelle - THEY ARE AWESOME. SAY HELLO.

So we’re Gisela (with the glasses) and Lily (blue scarf).  We met on the campout line for the Breaking Dawn Panel at Comic-Con last year and totally bonded over our love of Twilight, Robert Pattinson and Twi-fan fiction!  We further “cemented” our friendship over our L.A. Breaking Dawn Premiere campout experience (that’s where our picture is from – the fan “pit” on the red carpet as we waited for the stars to arrive) and are both really excited about the Twific Meet Up and sharing time in Las Vegas.

I go by the name mad4hugh on everywhere - Twitter,, Twilighted, etc.  I’m #&^Y# (read that to mean over 40.  Heh), single, and an accountant living in Kingston, NY - a small city a couple hours north of New York City.

I picked up the book ‘Twilight’ at the beginning of November 2008.  I totally became “hooked” and read it within 24 hours….in searching for info on the book series at Stephenie Meyers website and saw that there was movie coming out before Thanksgiving.  The movie not only solidified by love for the books, but introduced me to Robert Pattinson (yum-o!).

After reading (and rereading) all the books, I yearned for more, and was - like most – dissatisfied with the “fade to black” nature of the stories and that’s how I found fanfic.  I’ve been reading fanfic since December 2008 - I think my first vamp story was “The List” by Laura Cullen (definite “cure” for the “fade to black”-syndrome) and my first AU story (or should I say “First fic I ever became obsessed with?") was “Wide Awake”.  How bad’s my love of fanfic?  I am reading fic constantly on my phone or Nook! I love all genres – sometimes I can’t take “heavy angst”, though. I’ve had to take a hiatus from reading certain fics when it just got too heavy….I can be such a wuss!  I’m totally a whore for just about any Edward – I’m totally an E/B-shipper (unless it’s slash, then E/J).

Anyway, Twilight and my love of fan fiction have led me to do and see some amazing things (me at a red carpet movie premiere in L.A. I never would have imagined it!), and met some incredibly talented and lovely people.  I’m really looking forward going to Vegas and attending the TFMU to meet other fanfic lovers – none of my family and friends in my everyday life are into ANY of this!

Other likes/loves, passions and hobbies (in no particular order):  Hugh Jackman, Robert Pattinson (Good Lord!  Some of the pics from Cannes nearly killed me!), travelling (Hawaii and Australia’s are a couple of my favorite places I’ve been to), Charlaine Harris’  Sookie Stackhouse series/True Blood, spending time with friends, shopping, movies, the snark of Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin, Michael Fassbender, good food, a nice drink, live theater – concerts, plays, dance, musicals, museums.

Hi ladies! I'm Lilian @michiamoelle (on twitter) but everyone calls me Lily. 25, born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and like G said we met about a year ago and have maintained a beautiful friendship since then. IDK many people in RL that are into Twi/FFn/Rob like I am so finding G has made life more fun.
I had no idea what Twilight was until I saw the trailer about a month before the movie came out, went to see the movie opening day by myself and then read all 4 books during christmas vacation in 3 days.
I am of course Team Edward but am moreso Team Robert, so excited about his upcoming projects and will be definitely be showing my support for years to come.

I remember reading a little FFn prior to the release of 'New Moon' but during the campout heard about 'Master of The Universe' and how I should definitely read it. I honestly fic dive every day and had seen MOTU on the site but was turned off by the description, thought it wasn't my cup of tea. Boy, was I wrong!  Read it and fell in love with the man that everyone apparently knows all about now, very proud to say that I have been a Fifty fan since '09. I laughed and cried and became very protective of that character. Which leads into the fact that I am a total Angst h00r, hell even at @kygirltwo made me/us an angst shirt (available on Zazzle) since I asked her to. Something about Brokenward just draws me in, probably just because he's so vulnerable and that's nice to see in a man.

Other interests: YA novels (loved Divergent), Dancing (Latin+Ballroom), Baking, Singing, musicals and concerts; really into Country music atm.

I will probably be a little shy but so excited to meet y'all and can't wait to have some fun since I think we all need a vacation and time to ourselves/with girlfriends :).

I'm calling you two the DYNAMIC DUO! Wow, thank you so much for sharing! We can't wait to meet you in Vegas!!

Attendee Spotlight - @tfffan

Welcome to the spotlight, tfffan! (is that the right number of f's? #twss)

The first fanfic I read was Wide Awake. Um yeah. What a mind blower! I couldn't stop reading after that!
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. Putting names with faces.
I'm a reader only. I prefer AH but like some vamps too.
I have been to Vegas, just last year. Met Fliki then. But have met a lot of the fandom in my area and Kansas!
Worried? Not really. Yeah, maybe sweat too. :)
I have 2 kids and two grands 2 dogs (Jack Russells) and a well trained husband.
I did see the Hunger Games. Thought it was well done. Looking forward to the next but not as much as BD2!
As for character, maybe Bella from His Personal Assistant by Northernlights17 or Bella from The Blessing and the Curse by The Black Arrow or, or, or......

SEE! You can't pick just one! Like M&Ms or Pringles or ...what commercial is that? Pickles? I can't remember. SEE YOU IN VEGAS!

Attendee Spotlight - WonderfullyBedazzled

Say hello to this lovely lady: WonderfullyBedazzled!

I have been in the fandom since 2009.

I did not learn about Twilight until they filmed the greenhouse scene at the college where I work. When the movie came out on DVD, I watched it to see the other locations in the area. And when Edward Cullen strutted thru the cafeteria I was hooked! Then listening to Rob's interviews, seeing that expressive face, hearing the humility. I became a goner. I then read the books several times but needed more adult situations. Erotica specifically!!

I have been reading FF since I learned of it from Random Acts of Rob (RAoR).

I have so many favorites, I delve into many genres as well.

I am so looking forward to meeting other readers and writers.

I have never been to Vegas and I am looking forward to this getaway!

Attendee Spotlight - @SnowyHedwig

Are you sitting down? Okay, good. Because here's SnowyHedwig!

*clears throat*

Hello, I’m SnowyHedwig and I have issues with procrastination.  Seriously, I think you’re lucky to be getting this at all, considering it’s just past midnight a week before I fly out!  Sorry, no picture.  You’ll meet me, then you’ll see me.  ;) I’m also a wordy bitch, so guys? *looks around* feel free to edit the hell out of this crap.  First off, believe it or not, it was never intentional, but my screen name also happens to be the name of two of my cats.  I’ve always loved Snowy Owls, and Hedwig in Harry Potter just won my heart.  So when we adopted our newest white cat, I lobbied long and hard for Pinky (due to his pink ears & nose) over Snowy, but the kids won out.  Ironic, no?

I am a bibilophiIe surrounded by books. Seriously, it’s kind of a problem that I’m proud to have. I discovered Twilight thanks to the bashing being done by Harry Potter fans.  I’ve always said that if someone hasn’t read a book, they have no right to judge it.  So,  I was tired of seeing the bashing going on, and picked up Twilight.  I got it the week before Breaking Dawn was to be released, and went out and bought New Moon and Eclipse the next night.  I had read the three of them two times before heading to the store for the midnight release of Breaking Dawn, which I had finished by 4pm the next afternoon.  I was literally falling asleep reading it, or I would have been done sooner… :)

I was already quite involved in the HP fanfic world, and have actually done quite a bit of beta work there.  I had NO CLUE there was Twilight fanfic, until I finally asked someone online what everyone was going on about… WA was my introduction, and I never looked back.   LOL  I’ve met so many RL friends through the fandom, doing all the horrible things we warn our children about, going to meet someone you’ve only known online.  Met up for the first time and spent the night in a mall with an online friend who I’m proud to call one of my closest friends now, to meet Kellan Lutz, Christian Serratos and Chaske Spencer.

The next year, the two of us hit Calgary’s comic con and met Peter Facinelli, Alex Meraz and Tyson Houseman.  And I’m coming to TFMU to meet up for the THIRD time with my RL sista from another mista, my darlin’ NicciB23.  She was brave enough to fly up to our cold country in -23C never having met us, and our family adores her so much, we forced her to come on our summer holidays the next year!  Apparently, she suffers from Stockholm Syndrome, cuz we’re rooming together and already making plans for her to come up for my November holidays to see BD2.  I’ve also been trying to convince her to stow away in my luggage and just come home with me after TFMU.

What else?  I’m a mother of 2, sometimes 3.  We’re a high-maintenance family, my hubby has Asperger’s and is a stay-at-home dad to my two daughters, 10 and 13.  They are both hearing impaired and actually wear their hearing aids, unlike their stubborn mom.  So yeah, if you call me and I don’t answer, I’m not being rude.  I used to write A LOT.  But working two jobs and taking care of the family has drained me, and I haven’t written in over 13 years.  I finally signed up for NaNoWriMo last year, only to have to pick up a part-time job the next week!  I’m really looking forward to discussing writing and hopefully finding a way to make time to do some of my own.  Hubs doesn’t just approve of my insane addiction, he aids and abets it.  He actually went online and printed off and cut out a paper-Rob on high quality glossy photo paper.  For me.  Without my asking.  *looks at Paper-Rob on desk*  That’s my man.  And his name is James, so he loved coming up behind me every time the Twilight trailer came on… you can imagine what he did.  ;)

I haven’t left the country in over 10 years, and I do believe I may get a little wild…   I’m a freak about wild rides, so will be hitting the Stratosphere to experience some insanity, looking forward to Bel Ami, and maybe an all-male revue is in my future?  Also planning on hitting the spa for some much-needed pampering.  Most of all, I’m really looking forward to meeting all of you, discussing and learning more about writing, and just having a HELL of a lot of fun!!

OK, I just jumped to page 2 and that’s a sign for me to shut up.  That’s all!  LMAO

I don't care if you're on page 22 - we like you. You told us awesome things about yourself! GO YOU!

Can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight - @Annabanana999

OMG. Look who it is! Say hello to, Annabanana999!

Hi, I'm Anna (Gillian Aubrey/@Annabanana999).   I'm a SAHM with two sons 6 and 27.

When I first heard of Twilight, I thought it sounded bizarre but my interest was piqued in December of 2009 when New Moon was out.  I started doing some research and I bought the series and finished them in a week!  I was hooked but wanted more, then I came across fanfiction and the rest is history!  The first fic I read was The Rain Season by Elusivetwilight.

Since discovering the world of Twilight, I've met some wonderful people and have had the privilege of meeting some of the cast and a few behind the scenes folks.  I honestly haven't had so much fun in a very long time!  :)

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in Las Vegas!

Anna, your twitter name has gotten some Gwen Stefani stuck in my head.

*sings* This shit is BANANAS - B A NA NAS!

Sorry. Now it's everyone else's turn. lol
THANKS FOR SHARING WITH US! Can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight - @Esbrandofheroin

HOLLA! Esbrandofheroin is up in da TFMU HOUSE!

I'm a party girl through and through. Don't get me wrong I love my family but I'm really looking forward to getting away. I have a four year old boy and 2 year old girl and a really great husband (I'll actually be in Vegas for our 6th anniversary!) but I really want lots of drunk girl time.

When I'm not a loving mom and super wife I work as a clinician w/foster kids. I love my job too but sooo need the week off (yeah, I took a full week for a 3 day trip.)

I found fanfiction on a twilight blog and they were talking about MotU. But it was too much for me. I had to try the less hardcore stuff first.

It took a while but I finally became brave enough to post when I found picsperations on the perv pack smut shack blog (thanks Emmy!)

I read daily but I try to stay away from the big name fics. Don't get me wrong, I've read a lot of it but I prefer fic diving to recs.

I've written several one shots and have two multi-chap stories that I can't seem to finish- Everyone Else and Albertine. Work has taken over the creative part of my brain I think.

I prefer B&E but I love ah, au, only M rated, drama, fluff, humor, suspense, crime....  I even like the occasional poly and femmeslash.

I can't wait to meet Sandy @impetuouslamb in person and I so wish there were more chicks I knew coming, but I'm just so happy to be meeting so many new girls who think like me. It's worth all the shit I'm getting from my family. Lol

Nicole (E's My Brand Of Heroin)

Thanks, Nicole! We're really excited to meet you in Vegas, too! Thanks for sharing with us!

Attendee Spotlight - @Themys_

How 'bout a big round of applause for one of our Brazilian Meet Up Attendees, Themys_!!

My name is Kelly, Themys_ on Twitter. I'm coming from Brazil. I'm 33, a lawyer and I have a 4 year old son. He's awesome! I've been divorced for 2 years and I want to enjoy my time in Vegas. A LOT. Anyone else want to hit the nightclubs?

I got the Twilight book as a Christmas gift in 2009. Four days later I had already read all four books and after re-reading them, I asked, "What now?" A few minutes online and I discovered fanfiction. First it was brazilian fanfiction. Then I found out the universe that is fanfiction in English. Let me just say that I learned a lot of new words. The kind that you don't learn in English courses.

I went to Comic Con last year and the best part was to meet and get to know all those amazing ladies. I had a wonderful time in San Diego and I'm very excited about Vegas too!

I work way too much and between work, my son and all the craziness that is my life I had almost no time to stay on twitter or just keep in touch this last year. I really hope I have more time from now on (yeah, that's likely to happen).

I'm looking forward to meeting y'all and can't wait to see the girls I've met before. See you guys in June!

A little personal note here...I met Themys on twitter when she was searching for a tattoo to commemorate her new beginning after her divorce, and am proud to say I helped her pick out a gorgeous butterfly! I can't wait to meet you in person and see it for myself! :-D Thanks for sending us your spotlight, Kelly!

Attendee Spotlight - @OhMyCarlisle

I'm super duper excited to introduce you to the lovely, OhMyCarlisle!

My name is Amy, but I’m known to most on twitter as @OhMyCarlisle and as author Esme Mom Cullen.  I’m originally from New Jersey, but currently live in Orange County, Calif. and work in corporate communications for an automotive company.  I’m a huge Disney fan, an all-around fangirl, and forever Team Carlisle and Team Esme.
I got hooked on “Twilight” in spring 2009 and from the beginning I was drawn in by Dr. Carlisle Cullen.  I soon became involved with online role play, which led to fan fiction writing. I write Esme/Carlisle canon.  Carlisle is my favorite character in the “Twilight Saga,” but I wanted to know more about this woman who won his heart after centuries alone. Stephenie gave us precious little information on Esme in the books.  She gave us a bit more of Esme’s backstory outside of the novels, but I thought she deserved better and that is what led to The Esme Chronicles.”

I’m also working on a multi-chapter AU fic called, “Miracles and Mischief,” in which Esme and Carlisle are granted the one wish that they thought they could never have.  I’ve written multiple one-shots including letters to and from Cullen family members, Esme/Carlisle moments, and one AU Esme/Emmett naughty story.

As an extension of my fan fiction writing, I run Ask Esme Cullen on tumblr, where Esme answers questions about her life, her family and her husband.  I’m on staff at one of the top fansites dedicated to the “Twilight Saga,”, part of the Page to Premiere Network. I also run my own blog, Adventures in Cullenland, and contribute to

I’m looking forward to meeting other authors and readers in Las Vegas. I used to live in Vegas so if you are looking for tips and recommendations give me a shout!

GREAT PICS!! I can't wait to meet you in Vegas and hear about your experiences! And HECK YEAH, we're gonna pick your brain about Sin City! Thanks so much for sharing with us! See you soon!

Attendee Spotlight - @starrett72

Hi, I’m Jennifer Starrett from Austin, TX.  I also go by @starrett72 on Twitter and JenStarrett on FanFiction & Twilighted.

I’m a married mom of 3 boys.  Yes, 3 boys!  I bet you could guess why I need to escape to the world of FanFiction!  I’m originally from Indiana and transplanted down to Austin, TX in 2000.  We absolutely love it here.  I have been everything from a stockbroker/manager, homebuilder, and a stay-at-home mom.  However, my true passion has been cooking (outside of Twilight, of course!).  I decided to go back to school again when my youngest son started Kindergarten this past year.  I just finished Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School for the Arts (yesterday, in fact) and I work at Whole Foods as a Prepared Food/Catering Chef.  I also have my own business providing private chef services, cooking classes, catering, and retail sales.  My niche market is dealing with people who have food allergies and/or strict diet restrictions.

Like many of you, I picked up Twilight series back in 2009 and haven’t stopped thinking about them since.  I’ve NEVER obsessed about books or movies like this before.  I couldn’t stop reading these books and watching the Twilight movie over and over again.  I told my neighbors about them and eventually got them to read the series, they were hooked!  (Yes, they’re my roomies for the TFMU!)  We couldn’t stop reading the series over and over, but wanted more.  Then we found Twilight FanFiction.   That’s when the new obsession started.  Not only were these stories juicier than the original books, but also there were endless stories about these characters.  We started a list of the stories we read and liked.  One story inspired me to take a trip with my husband to Italy.  Do you remember The University of Edward Masen by Sebastien Robichaud?  I’ve seen all of this in person now.  I loved it!  I could move to Florence, Italy tomorrow!

I’m only a reader, but I am in awe with the authors of these Twilight FanFiction stories.  I’m so excited to see that some of their stories are actually getting published, and even made into a movie (cough cough, MOTU, cough cough).  I can’t wait to meet everyone at TFMU.

Now that I’m done with school, I can go back to my full-time job of reading Twilight FanFiction, LOL!

Jennifer Starrett

Okay, A. I LOVE YOUR JOB. MMMM..WHOLE FOODS. *wipes drool* AND B. CONGRATS ON GRADUATING! You *TOTES* deserve a trip to Vegas!

Thanks for sending us your spotlight! We'll see you soon!!

Attendee Spotlight - @MaxieMooseFF

Welcome, Welcome! Everyone say hello to MaxieMooseFF!

*Waves* everyone. Here’s my Attendee Spotlight!

1. What was the 1st Twilight FanFiction that you read? Did it only entice you to read more?
The first TwiFic I read was Confessions of a Nanny. I had written and wrote Vampire Academy at that point, but became an instant fan of the Twifandom. It’s like crackfiction in my house. Two of my favorite stories of all time are The Wedding Party by spanglemaker9 and Sin by Mamasutra, who just happens to be my roommate for the TwiFic Meetup!

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Twific Meet Up?
Meeting fellow readers and writers of the Twifandom and having a great time.

3. Are you a reader or a writer, or both?
Both! I started off in Vampire Academy FF, just finishing up my third story over there. Right now all I read are TwiFics. Writing for TwiFic has been; Postsecret Contest last fall and round 5 of the Twilight 25. I’m working on a Twilight fic that I’ll start posting after I finish my last VA story.

I also just finished my first original YA contemporary romance novel. I’m editing it and I’ll be submitting to publishers and agents in a few weeks. If no one buys my book I’ll be self publishing it, but I prefer to go the route of traditional or epublishers.

4. Have you ever been to Vegas before? If yes, tell us what you loved/hated most about it.
Yes, go to Vegas a few times a year. I live in Simi Valley, CA and have good friends that live in Henderson, NV.

I have three must do restaurants/places for this Vegas trip: 1) Emeril's New Orleans Fish House for Crab Cakes (it's at MGM, we can walk from Monte Carlo), 2) Battista's Hole in the Wall - It's old school Vegas Italian food, off strip, you have to take a taxi, but so worth it. 3) And, I love cupcakes and the Cupcake wars, so I am dying for a cupcake at the Cupcakery in the Monte Carlo.

I love to shop in Vegas. I’d like to hang by the pool, get a massage, and see Bel Ami, if at all possible.

5. Have any pets? Kids? Work?
Married, two daughters (14 & 17), the picture is me with my oldest daughter. We have two dogs, a silky and a yorkie terrier.

Right now, I work for a Fortune 50 company as an Information Technology Portfolio Manager, but would like to be a writer full time some day.

Can’t wait to meet you all!

Cheers – RenĂ© Rutter, penname RenĂ© Gilley, FF call sign MaxieMoose

Yay for people who've already been to Vegas and can tell us where the good stuff is!! And I hope we can all go see Bel Ami aka the Rob Sex Thrust Show! Woohoo!

Srsly. Thanks for sending us your spotlight, Rene!
See you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight - @holdmeransom

Hello all!

My real name is Stephanie.

I suffer from epic wordiness and fic multiple personalities, so pardon the lengthy intro:
Some know me as HoldmeRansom, or maybe Lostluggage, or SoLostinTwilight… Mama and sometimes Crazy Bi…. oh. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit that one…

I work at Long Beach State in Los Angeles. I have a lovely son and supportive hubs that gracefully tolerates my fascination with British men. When I am not mentoring and acting like a college student myself, I am a lighting designer. Every other waking moment is spent writing, or Googling, or watching Amish documentaries. I read when I can, but am so far behind in reading, I wish I had my own Tardis to go back in time so I could have just a few more hours.

I am fail at drabbles. My attempt at a drabble is now longer than most novels. *Hangs head in drabbly shame*

My first introduction to Twilight was in the theatre waiting for Harry Potter, thinking that silly trailer with the boy who looked like Cedric would never amount to anything… *blushes*

Six months later my students insisted I read the books and then introduced me to more than a fade to black in the form of fan fic… namely The Office by tby789 and The List by Laura Cullen.

On a playful dare, my grad student made me write a saucy version of Bella’s bedroom with Edward. And thus started my daily routine of skipping the gym in favor of flattening my backside in order to write what all the voices in my head told me to write. Three years later, I am still writing my first multi-chapter story, Need To Escape over on Twilighted. It may never end.

Other voices invade now and again, thanks to inspiration from my awkward BritBoy muse (thanks Rob for sporting the Amish alligator look) and I write them down, thinking one day I will be able to write something in under 500 words…

Oh look! This could be it!

I’m a little nutty and so excited about coming to Vegas (it’s like Chuckie Cheese without the bad pizza and screaming kids and there’s booze!). But most of all I can’t wait to meet up with some wonderful people that until now have been only on my screen. Can’t wait to meet ya’ll!

*glances at word count* whew… under 500! A miracle!

See you soon!

Thank you Steph! We can't wait to meet you in VEGAAAAS!!

Attendee Spotlight - NKubie

Give a big HELLLLLLO to NKubie!

Hi! I’m Nan, but known as NKubie on FFN, Twilighted and Facebook. Although I have a couple of stories posted, I still consider myself more of a reader than a writer. I LOVE reading Twific and it was a dream come true when I started getting the opportunities to pre-read. I also love Twilight (obviously), Rob, reading and my family, not necessarily in that order.  I’m also a big Edward/Bella shipper and HEA is generally a hard limit for me. As far as fics go, I love witty banter, intelligent writing and techversations (see below for more on that). In fact, I’m a huge sucker for a couple of text messages and emails between E&B.

I tend to like a lot of variety in my hobbies so I have also taken two years of drum lessons, Hip Hop dancing, Zumba and have performed in Community Theater. I’m a big Chicago Bears fan and love an eclectic variety of music.

I’m also the inventor of the word ‘techversation,’ which you can find on Urban Dictionary, as well as the founding member of SMUTT (Shitty Moms United Through Twific), which started during the group re-read of Emancipation Proclamation.

I live in a Chicago suburb, though I was born in New York and have also lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before moving to the Midwest. I’m married and have two children; a boy age 12 and girl age 5 (soon to be 6, which she will tell you often).  My mom also lives with us. Don’t get me started on that! LOL

This is not my first fanfic fandom (I started reading Harry Potter fanfiction), but it’s the first one where I really interacted heavily and certainly the first where I actually got to meet other fandom members in person.  To say I’m excited about going to the Meet Up is putting it mildly. I’m practically buzzing with anticipation! There are so many wonderful people that I need to give ginormous hugs to and that have become very dear friends.

I want to thank you to you ladies who have organized this get together! I don’t think I’d have the opportunity to meet so many of my fandom friends otherwise. Your hard work is not going unappreciated!

Your very welcome, Nan. We can't wait to meet everyone in Vegas! :)

Attendee Spotlight - @JT040708

Please welcome Jenny0719! :)

*waves* I’m lame and am just going to answer all the questions given to us. I am no good at talking about myself.

So here it is:

1. What was the 1st Twilight FanFiction that you read? Did it only entice you to read more? Why or why not?

The first fic I *remember* reading was Holding Out For You by ObsessingOverEdward. I probably read some other widely known fic before then, but I was so overwhelmed, I can’t remember what it would have been. After that, I was consumed. I read everything I could get my hands on; I fic dived before I even knew what it was. What stands out for me most about HOFY, though – and I’ve said it before – was that after it completed, I thought that it was something I could do too. Maybe not as well, but it was the first time the possibility of writing occurred to me.

So I did.

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Twific Meet Up?

Meeting everyone and seeing those I’ve met before again. No really. That’s about it. And drinking. I mean, come on… It’s Vegas!

3. Are you a reader or a writer, or both?

-If you're a writer, what genre(s) do you mainly write?  I write mostly AH, somewhat (depending on your definition) angsty stuff.  And that’s enough of that.

-If you're a reader, what genre(s) do you mainly read?  I’ll read almost anything so long as it’s well-written. I’m a grammar freak, so if I see something –beta’d or not – with a lot of grammar issues, I tend to drop it and move on to something else. I can’t help it.

4. Have you ever been to Vegas before? If yes, tell us what you loved/hated most about it. If you haven't been, what are you most excited to see - or on the opposite side of the spectrum - what are you most worried about when visiting Vegas? (I'm worried about excessive sweating, tbh.)

I love Vegas. I don’t gamble, but I do love going in and out of the casinos, etc, and just seeing the sights and how things have changed since the last time I was there. I’m looking forward to seeing LOVE again (We’ll be going Thursday night before the majority of people get there). As for being worried? Um… I don’t really have any worries. I’ve done a planned style meet-up before – Hi, Indy girls!!! – and it was a blast.

Except I got lost. So maybe that would be a worry ;)

5. Have any pets? Kids? If so, tell us how many and their breeds (the dogs, people, the dogs). We love animals! (Well, I do.) (And kids, too!)

My house is full. Like, to the brim. I have a nine year old daughter and a five year old son. We have a weimaraner and a miniature beagle. We also have a cat. Oh, and a betta.

You see what I mean now, don’t you?
6. What did you think of The Hunger Games movie? WHAT?! WE ALL SAW IT DIDN'T WE?! (Just kidding. Psst...go ahead and answer it if you want to, I won't care.)

Ha. Yeah, I saw it. I liked it a lot. That’s all I’m sayin’.

Bonus Question:
If you could be one FicBella, FicEdward, FicEmmett, FicJasper or FicAlice (you get the picture-pick any character) for one day - which one would it be? (I would totes be FicEdward in @TruceOver's A Tale of Two Cities)

Err…. Trick question!! Not answering! Lol

LOL! It's not a trick question! ;) Can't wait to meet you, bb.

We have 2 weeks and 2 days until TFMU. HOLY SHIT! SQUEEEEEE! Send us those spotlights NOW. HURRY!
