Attendee Spotlight: Hermia

Let me introduce you to Hermia:

I'm Bonnie, otherwise known as Hermia or @bjr70.

I'm 42, and I work for a small university press in the Detroit area as a Technical Project Manager. I run all of the systems, the website, and help guide strategy in multimedia, social media and digital publishing.

I've been in and around the fandom since 2008, when a friend of mine sent me LolaShoes' "Let Your Light Shine" with the message "This is what Breaking Dawn should have been." While I've never written in this fandom I've written fic off and on since I was about 12 years old. I wrote Duran Duran fic with my friends at school before I knew what a fandom was. Mostly I've written slash one-shots for various fandoms over the years, including music and scifi fandoms.

I'm a geek who loves science (physics, astronomy, archaeology, paleontology), indie films, cult films, indie music, and reading. My favorite show at the moment is An Idiot Abroad: the Bucket List.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and to having a great time in Vegas. Anyone want to hit The Big Shot with me?

So, if you haven't sent us your spotlight yet now would be a great time to do that. Please email it to us at:

Attendee Spotlight: Oliviamk1218

It's that time again... meet Oliviamk1218! :)

Hello fellow readers and writers!

My name is Kahlen and I was introduced to Twilight via my hairdresser about December of 2008. At that time, I hadn't read the books but she was swooning and I had a young daughter, who was a little young for YA, but she was an advanced reader. I decided to read the series to see if it was suitable for her at her tender age. Needless to say I loved the books.

Fanfiction came a little later for me. I was marketing a business and was looking for a way to connect with a lot of women...and what bigger community of women than the TwiHards? I began reading Tropic of Virgo by the amazing, in_a_blue_bathrobe and loved it. I also started writing my very first story around that time. I was very interested in the real lives of the actors and in reading the blogs and web sites, there were many others who were, too. I wanted to read a story where it would echo the real life events and have the blanks filled in, so I looked for it. When I didn't find it, I decided to write what became Beyond Twilight! The rest, as they say, is history. My pen name is Oliviamk1218 and my stories include BT, AfterGlow, Don't Forget to Remember Me and my current project, Isabella After Dark (which will be complete by the time the meetup happens.) All of my work was posted on and at one time, but now it is available on my livejournal community.

Best of all, I'm happy to say, Don't Forget to Remember Me is publishing as a trilogy! The first and hopefully the second books will drop before the meetup.

The fandom has been an great source of support and I've made some life-long friends from all over the globe! I treasure my incredible readers as well as the other writers who work so hard to bring quality stories to the fandom. I'm ecstatic to see so many who are now publishing for real! I'm looking forward to meeting some of these "old" friends in person, as well as make some brand new ones!!

I live in Nebraska with my one daughter (Olivia) and my two golden retrievers (Riley and Sophie). I'm happily divorced and enjoying life! By day, I sell diamonds, and I write all night!

I'm attaching a picture of me with Olivia.

Love and peace...

Vegas is going to be so much fun! We can't wait!

Attendee Spotlight: siledubh

Say hello to another one of our awesome attendees, siledubh:

Twitter name: siledubh, which means "Sheila (Sila) the dark" in Gaelic. My real name is Cecilia and I am retired from a historical re-creation group of a 16th century Irish/Scottish clan. Yes, I was one of those Ren Faire people. "Sila" is the closest Gaelic name to Cecilia and since there was already someone by that name in our clan, I added the descriptor to reflect my Hispanic skin tone, not my personality or evilness.

I'm old enough to be a mom to most of you. In fact my daughter is 23 and she just graduated from Chapman Univ. with a Creative Writing BFA and my son is 21. He is in auto mechanics school and is in 3 different punk bands which practice at our house. I am married and have been with the love of my life for 34 years (I told you I was old). Most days I love my job as an elementary school secretary and I live in Southern California about midway between Disneyland and Hollywood.

Twilight has brought me some really great friends who I spend time with on a regular basis (I'm looking at you @kismit1496) and many who I've only spent time with at Comic Con or at a 100 Monkeys show. There are also countless more friends who I've never met in person but who enrich my life on twitter or on fan fiction blogs.

Speaking of fan fiction - I am a voracious reader (sadly, not a writer) and expect to spend a lot of my time in Vegas fan-girling over some of my favorite writers. I am so grateful to the TwiFic Meet up committee for working so hard to make this event happen!

This photo was taken at Twi-con 2010 and I think it epitomizes how silly I allow myself to be for this fandom.

Please, we are begging you, PLEASE email us your spotlight.

Attendee Spotlight: Rikki_dd

Welcome another TFMU attendee, Rikki_dd:

Is it June yet??? Hello to all you new people that I'm about to meet and be great friends with! My name is Rikki (Rikki_dd on twitter) and I am a Vegas local. Since this shindig is being held in Vegas, it was a no brainer to attend! I am hooked on the Twi and don't want to be cured. I am not a shy person and have no brain to mouth filter. I say what I say and take noshame for it. I never thought Twi fic existed until a year or so ago (which is dumb because I was a fic writer foranother fandom years ago), but now I can't stop reading!

This was the only acceptable photo that I have where I'm not doing something really inappropriate. It was between this and me flashing my bra at the Welcome To Forks sign....

Can't wait to meet you, Rikki.

Now, have you sent us your attendee spotlight? What are you waiting for? It's not hard. Promise. Just send us a little bio and picture (pretty please?) and that's it! See? Not so hard.

Attendee Spotlight - Don't Know What To Say??

Hey attendees, we understand that sometimes it's hard to talk about yourself.
Here are some questions you can copy and paste right into an email (with or without a picture). Answer as many or as few as you like!

Doesn't that sound easy?? YES IT DOES. ;-D

1. What was the 1st Twilight FanFiction that you read? Did it only entice you to read more? Why or why not?

2. What are you most looking forward to at the Twific Meet Up?

3. Are you a reader or a writer, or both?
-If you're a writer, what genre(s) do you mainly write?
-If you're a reader, what genre(s) do you mainly read?

4. Have you ever been to Vegas/Chicago (wherever the TFMU event is being held) before? If yes, tell us what you loved/hated most about it. If you haven't been, what are you most excited to see - or on the opposite side of the spectrum - what are you most worried about when visiting Vegas/Chicago? (I'm worried about excessive sweating, tbh.)

5. Have any pets? Kids? If so, tell us how many and their breeds (the dogs, people, the dogs). We love animals! (Well, I do.) (And kids, too!)

6. What did you think of The Hunger Games movie? WHAT?! WE ALL SAW IT DIDN'T WE?! (Just kidding. Psst...go ahead and answer it if you want to, I won't care.)

Bonus Question:
If you could be one FicBella, FicEdward, FicEmmett, FicJasper or FicAlice (you get the picture-pick any character) for one day - which one would it be? (I would totes be FicEdward in @TruceOver's A Tale of Two Cities)

If you need more help, just let us know!

Attendee Spotlight - SharonMacross

Hey, Hey, Hey! Say howdy to SharonMacross!

Hello fellow TwiFic lovers! I'm Deb but online I sign in as SharonMacross (Twitter,, ADF, Twilighted... you get the idea). I'm hardly on Twitter though. I just use it to announce things basically.

I've been a fic junkie since the summer of '09 I think. My cherry fic was Wide Awake and it was still updating (a happy and angsty time!).

Since I have OCD-like tendencies, an obsessive personality and time on my hands, I run and own a Twilight blog (, website and podcast dedicated to Twilight fan fic ( I also organize a Southern California (I live in LA) Twilight MeetUp group. That's where I found all of my Twi-friends including my TwiFicSis Patty. If it weren't for these ladies, I don't know what I'd do :')

When I heard about the Twi Fic meet up, I might have danced a bit (a lot). Patty is the only one I know when I can text "omg! Why is Nerdward so f'n hot!" or "whhhhy did toy give me this to read?! I can't stop crying!"

I can't wait to go to Vegas and meet all you lovely people and totally nerd out. I imaging much jumping, arm waving and shouts of "Yes!" or "I Love that fic!" will be in our future.

See you all soon!

Not ashamed to make a fool out of myself or others around me,

Possible Fanchinima Presentation at TFMU

Ever heard of Machinima? Yeah, we hadn't either. It's a form of 3D animation - but it looks a lot like a movie would. It's used mostly in video games. Most of this media is used by fans of these same video games to reproduce copyrighted material in their own scenarios/gameplay. (I just learned all of this from Wikipedia, okay.)

Why are we telling you all of this? Good question. The TFMU was approached by a company called Fanchinima - as in 3D generated animation specifically for FanFiction. (See links below). The company asked us if they could present their product during the Workshop portion of the TFMU in June. We said, um...well...we don't know...this is, we have to ask our peeps first. So here we are...asking you.

The gentleman in question, Christopher Kingdon, will be attending the TFMU as a reader of fanfiction (currently he's reading Abstract Way - cool, right?!) and he's coming all the way from Sweden. I was skeptical at first - to be completely honest, but he gave me the following information. So you can check this out and decide for yourselves if this is something you're interested in. In the effort of full disclosure, they have offered us sponsorship funds, but that has no bearing on whether or not the presentation will go forward. That part, again, is up to you.

Fanchinima Presentation:
-About 10-15 minutes to discuss how it works and how to have your own Twific mini-movie created in Fanchinima-style. (He said cost is approx 15 Euros/$20 USD per movie)

-About 2-3 minutes to view a Fanchinima-created scene from Twilight (the movie)
-Reminder: Because the material is copyrighted the names will be changed slightly to avoid a lawsuit from you know who. Mr Kingdon also mentioned that if he were to get licensing rights that the cost would go up significantly - which is not a huge surprise.

-The company has an affiliation with this group:

Go here for a quick sample of a Fanchinima
Go here for an informational PDF on the company

Go here to vote! Survey will close Wednesday, the 28th at 9pm EST

Attendee Spotlight - jacndaniel

Viva Las Vegas! It's jacndaniel!

Hey! So here I am! My author name is jacndaniel, but you can just call me Jac. I am a 33 year old single mom to an 11 year old son... who I cropped out of this picture. He's not coming to Vegas, so he get's no face time. I am a full time college student hell-bent on finishing my degree in Human/Child Development before my child goes to college! lol! I am also the creator of Mecahnicward, who loves Vegas btw, and I'm hopelessly addicted to fic. I decided to attend this little shindig in hopes of putting a face to some of the names I know so well. Looking forward to meeting you all this summer! xoxo

Thanks so much, Jac! We can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight - KFGoodyear

Ya'll are coming out of the woodwork! Say hello to Kelli!

Hey there.

So, yes that is a pic of me, and ummm- well, I don't know which one the twificmeetup gals are gonna post. So, if it is just a gal, that is me. If it is a whole hoard of ppl, that is my fam. Hubs, Adam, is joining me, and all of you, in Vegas....coming with me to everything Twi-related. Ya, he's kinda awesome like that.

On Facebook you would know me as KF Goodyear- same with Twitter. On FF, however, my pen name is Breath-of-twilight. In the real world, I am known as Mom, Mommy, Love, Dear or just plain ol' Kelli, depending on who wants what from me. :-P I just turned 31, but shhh...let's still pretend I am in my twenties, k?

Anywho, I have been addicted to all things Twilight for a very long time now, signed up- after lurking for about a year- on FF in 2009, posted my fist fic not long after. I read alot, but find it hard to find stuff that can always hold my attention for long spans of time. I write- constantly- and have a total of 31 stories and/or one shots posted on FF. I have hosted The Countdowns now for 3 years- and a total of 8 massive collaborations.

Umm, but in RL, I am boring as shit, swear. I have 4 kids, 2 cats, and a husband that plays too many video games- thus allowing me the time to lose myself in all things twi-related. I sell Avon and am a bookkeeper. Words and numbers are pathetically my life. I go to school for novel writing, and am working on my first set of novels. I love the beach, have one helluva sarcastic sense of humor, and swear like a trucker. I'm pervy by birth, swear I was born this way, and I am excited as all hell to meet up with y'all in Vegas.

So, here's to a great time in the city that never sleeps. See ya all there!!!!

Thanks so much, Kelli! We can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight - Connie_79

Everyone say hello to Connie_79!

Hi, I'm Connie. I'm coming from Argentina to join in the Vegas fun.
I'm Team Edward :)
I love fan fiction, I read almost everything from canon to slash.
I honestly believe that Jasper & Bella make a great FF couple.
If Edward is not with Bella he belongs with Jasper.
I have GQ Rob as my work lappy´s desktop, and the IT guys knows him as "the father of my unborn child" LOL
And in RL I have a soft spot for Kellan, specially when he looks all hot like this (see gif above lol)
If I have to pick my favourite fics WA, CW&IA and M&A will be among them.
I blog with TwiSlash Unveiled & I'm the human behind TwiFic News Twitter.
I love being part of this fandom and can't wait to join the friends I already know and meet the ones I talk to every day.

Is it June yet?

Thanks, Connie! We can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

So not sure what to say so. My name is Emily. I'm 24 yrs old and live in SoCal. I'm pretty shy, but once I get to know you it's hard to shut me up. I joined him the fandom a little after the first movie and have been here ever since. I'm Team Edward and stick to mostly canon stories. So yeah.

Everyone give a big howdy to your fellow attendee, NicciB23!

I'm a twenty something with addictions to Twific, BDB (which are all @TheSnowyHedwig's fault) and LOTU (but I did that to myself). Some of my favorite fics are...Wide Awake, Clipped Wings & Inked Armor, Let Your Light Shine, A Life Extraordinary, This Hungry World, The Office, The Blessing and The Curse, Stranger Than Fiction, Emancipation Proclamation & Secrets and Lies, just to name a few lol. I just recently started reading non-canon pairing. I have no clue what took me so long! I'm super excited to meet everyone!

I can't wait!

Attendee Spotlight: HollettLA

Hey! Hey! Give it up for, HollettLA!

When I finished reading the Twilight Saga, which one of my friends had insisted I'd love, I was at a loss for what to do next. Surely that couldn't be it? Yeah, clearly it wasn't. A little bit of wine and some drunken Googling later (the first time I've *ever* done that, I swear!), I was hooked on fic. I've never had any desire to write it, but I have a voracious desire to read it and insert commas in it where they are missing.
In my "real life" I produce infomercials, so if you're up in the middle of the night and have your credit card handy...well, you're welcome. ;-) I live in the DC suburbs and travel a fair amount for work, and I love that I get to take my favorite stories with me when I'm away from home. I'm single (and will be until I can find a man I love as much as Diet Coke, and for whom I'm willing to move even one thing out of my over-stuffed closet) with no kids. I do, however, have a cat named Mulligan who really deserves his own blog.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and spending some quality time sharing stories in Vegas.

Thanks so much Lisa!! We can't wait to meet you in Vegas!

Attendee Spotlight: CupcakeHuman

Hey TFMU-ers, say hello to your fellow attendee: CupcakeHuman

Ok, I hope I'm doing this right...
My decision to go to the TwiFic Meet Up was based on two things: First, I've never been to Vegas before and second it's something Twilight related. It looks like I'll be the only Texas girl on this crazy fun adventure so far. Vegas and Twilight is a win-win situation, in my eyes. I have only met one other person who's going, but I'm looking forward to meeting people I chat with on Twitter. Believe it or not, I'm a shy person at first. I will be slightly nervous the first few hours of meeting. I'm excited about making new Twi-friends. I'm a newbie when it comes to fan fiction. I've just started reading it within the last year. It took some getting used to, but fan fic is one of my favorite things to read on my Nook. :) As far as bail money goes, I don't have any. :( I'm too pretty for jail. (Ha) I'm hoping as long as I have my room card key and can say my name I should be alright. Maybe I should stick a piece of paper inside my shoe with vital information just in case?

My picture is attached. That's me on a recent visit to Alcatraz. A glimpse of Vegas maybe? Ok ok, I also attached a more serious one. :)

Thanks for taking the time to tell us a little about yourself, and so far you WIN for best bio photo! Who could top that??

Say hello to your fellow Twific Meet Up attendee: Lynzylee

So this is me…yes, I cropped my husband's head out of the pic...he is not going so why show his face? Oh, and did I mention that his name is Rob? No, not that Rob...but my Rob. :) I am addicted to reading and posting crafty stuff on Pinterest that I will never make. I found fanfic one year ago and I have been stuck ever since. No one will make me leave. No one!!! Oh, I guess I can tell you I am 31 and will be 32 the week before Vegas <---that may or may not be a message for you to buy me a fruity girly drink. :)

Thanks, Lynzylee! We can't to meet you!

We Have A Winner!!

Congrats, 1Lavishone! You won the TWILIGHT BASKET OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! (Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating slightly. Rob is not included therefore I suppose it could be better...)

Anyway, we are SUPER DUPER excited to bestow our goodies onto our new BFF/Partner-In-Vegas-Crime, 1Lavishone. In order to get to know the lady behind the twitter we asked her a few hard-hitting questions:

1. If you had to name one thing about the Twific Meet Up that made you decide to sign up, what was it?

Wow, one's tough for me to choose. I guess I would have to say the opportunity to meet and talk to other readers and writers were really the driving force. Also, meeting people from my t/l and hanging out in Vegas made the Twific Meet Up irresistible!

2. What do you hope to get out of the experience?

I hope to meet other Fandom people, specifically writers and readers of Twific to discuss stories and to see where, as the movie cycle ends, they see themselves in the Fandom and what other books/stories/writers they have an interest in sharing.

3. What is your favorite genre of Twilight FanFiction?

I don't know that I have a specific genre. I love canon stories for the exploration of themes and ideas that Stephenie Meyer didn't write and I've found some really great stories under the AU/AH category. I'm also an avid reader of slash. I guess you could say that I'm a sucker for a good story- regardless of POV or genre.

4. Do you have an all-time favorite fic? Would you be willing to pimp it out right here and now?? ;-)

Oh, I have an amazing list of fabulous fics that I really love. I was chatting the other day on twitter about fics that have really held up. Of course Wide Awake by AngstGoddess003 was mentioned as well as Art After 5 by SleepyValentina. One that comes to mind for me is "The Screamers". In my view, it is hands-down the best Edward meets Rob story out there. KiyaRaven had me rolling on the floor (literally) with her descriptions. Really though, there are SO MANY incredible writers and stories. I could likely list about 300 stories that I loved for whatever reason. I'm answering this during my lunch break, so I'm not able to get the list ready for you at this moment...

5. Do you have bail money?

I don't have bail money per se. I do have a credit card if I get into trouble and my BIL is an attorney. Most likely though, I'll probably just laugh and have a great time meeting everyone. I hope some peeps like to dance!

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions! We hope you enjoy your goodies. They're on the wayyyy!!!

Do you want to air your dirty Twific laundry on our blog? Send us an email about yourself (and a pic if you're brave enough) with the subject line: Attendee Spotlight. Feel free to use the questions above if you can't think of anything to write. That happens to me a lot. Okay, shutting up now. WE LOVE YOU!
