Inside the Author's Studio Announcements Day 4

Happy Thursday!

Today's author reveal is the fan-fucking-tastic katinki. Welcome, Kate! We're so glad to have you as part of this feature.

Kate's bio:

Back in early 2009, after vacationing with a friend, Kate found herself stuck in the Miami airport. Bored, she wandered into a Borders, and lo and behold, a certain black and red book caught her eye. The name was familiar... After all, she'd watched bits and pieces of this bizarre little blue-colored movie with the same name while on vacation, and that same friend she'd gone with had told her repeatedly, "You gotta read this." So, she picked it up, and boom! A full on obsession was born.

Like many, she quickly found fanfiction, searching for anything to fill that gaping hole that was left once she'd finished the series. And after a few months of reading, she said, "Why not," and dove headlong into writing. More than a dozen stories and a million or so words later, we're here.

By day, Kate's an engineer - one of those weird people who actually like math. And if you ask her spouse, he'll say that she collects hobbies, ranging from traveling to reading to writing (fic and original) to teaching herself new languages to trying to not bust her ass on the slopes. She counts the fandom as one of the best experiences in her life, and through it, she's met some amazingly talented and wonderful people.

Kate's Top 3:

An Angry Man
Night Must Fall
A Voice in the Darkness

Inside the Author's Studio Announcements Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the Inside the Author's Studio announcements!

Let's lift another round of drinks for today's author, TheFicChick!

TheFicChick's bio:

On the advice of a friend, TheFicChick bought the first "Twilight" book to read on her honeymoon in the summer of 2009; she wound up reading the entire series. (MisterChick was thrilled.) Upon her return to the United States, she rented the first "Twilight" movie. (MisterChick was, again, thrilled.) In the lag between then and the theatrical release of "New Moon," she discovered the wonderful world of "Twilight" fanfiction, and proceeded to lurk as a reader for a good four years before mustering up the courage to actually give writing one a go.

When she's not putting Edward and Bella into situations that Stephenie Meyer undoubtedly never intended them to be in, she's chasing her toddler daughter around her house, coaching youth soccer, and freelance writing. She feels blessed beyond measure to have been welcomed into the fold of this fandom, and is so thankful for all of the wonderful feedback and encouragement she has received.
TheFicChick is the author of "Departures," "The Purple Banana Hammock," and "Through the Kitchen Window." She is also endlessly thankful for the support and guidance of her beta, HollettLA, whose wisdom and friendship in this adventure have been invaluable.

We hope you're thinking of some great questions for these talented authors! We'll see you tomorrow with another great announcement.

Inside the Author's Studio Announcements Day 1

Welcome to the very first author announcement for Inside the Author’s Studio, set to take place June 27-30, 2013 in Chicago during the TwiFic MeetUp, and hosted by the amazeballs (and pretty) Kassiah from The Fictionators!

We’re so glad you’re here to check out the fantastic lineup of authors we’ll be talking to. Our plan is to make this reveal a little extra special -- we will be highlighting one author per day, for the next several days, and then we will post the entire lineup and ask for questions. This will be your chance to participate, if you can’t join us (although we can’t guarantee that your question will make it into the final lineup), so think about your questions for some of the most amazing authors in this fandom.

We are honored to announce abstract way as an author in the lineup! Please lift your glasses and let’s have a round of applause as we welcome Ruthy!

Ruthy’s bio:

Being a full-time art publisher with a studio in Burbank, CA keeps me busy but nothing challenges me like raising my teenage daughter, lovingly referred to as Snarky. She’s my #1 girl. I was born and raised in L.A. and I’ve spent years as a photographer and art director so I wind a lot of details from these experiences into my stories. Late at night you can find me on my couch with a laptop, putting words to my dreams until I fall asleep with my fingers on the keyboard. It’s not the sanest of schedules but I have no choice. Writing’s my passion and passion is everything to me....after all, it inspired me to join all of you in this amazing fandom!

And her top 3 fics-she-has-written picks:

Animate Me
Dodge and Burn
Work of Art

Friendly reminder -- meetup fees go up to $175 on March 16, so if you've been waffling, be sure to sign up and pay before that. With the authors we're rolling out over the next few days, this is sure to be an event you won't want to miss.
